Wander Weekly is a weekly post on what I’m consuming at the moment.
Are you a roller coaster person, or not a roller coaster person? There’s no in-between.
I rode my first loop roller coaster when I was 8 because I’m hardcore. Also, I was a tall child. But really, I love roller coasters, and I’m pumped to be heading to the Roller Coaster Capital of the World tomorrow: Cedar Point.
Alrighty, then. Let’s roll out. (Sorry.)
This week, I am –
Reading:
“The square inch of silence is one of only 12 “quiet zones” remaining in the U.S., and its claim of being the country’s quietest place has been supported by the readings of decibel meters.”
I’m a bit sad that they could only claim one square inch.
Once, someone asked me when in my life I’ve been the most alone – no other people, no airplanes flying overhead.
I really had to think about it, but I think my answer would be cross-country skiing in the Second College Grant, New Hampshire. I found myself skiing alone between the two clumps of people my group had split into, and it was quiet and snowy and still. I’d like to find a place like that again.

“If you want to get shit done, it’s very simple: show up.”
If you missed it, here’s David Brooks’ column in the NYT from last month on “The Golden Age of Bailing.” I especially appreciate the feature image of solo dude + 2 pigeons for this article.
Moral of the story…life happens and things come up, of course. But if you don’t want to do something, don’t commit to it in the first place.

It’s no secret that I’m all about the “real” Jersey Shore, and it’s nice to have some validation.
