Shoutout to the folks running the gondola until midnight who made it possible for me to get up to this vantage point without hiking 🤪 and shoutout to the wild animals for leaving me alone while I sat and watched the stars in the dark

Happy Cinco de Mayo 🇲🇽 a holiday that commem

Happy Cinco de Mayo 🇲🇽 a holiday that commemorates Mexico’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla and is arguably bigger in the U.S. than in Mexico. Now it’s mostly a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage (and food — yum).

These photos are from the horse exhibition at @xcaretpark, showcasing a charrería (Mexican rodeo) where charros performed impressive moves on Aztec horses and escaramuzas (female riders) showed off gorgeous Adelitas dresses while riding sidesaddle.

The last few photos are from the big show at the end of the day at the park, “México Espectacular,” which highlights Mexican culture from pre-Colombian civilizations to today — including this crazy game that involved players using sticks to pass a flaming ball back and forth.

Big cats of @xcaretpark

Xcaret has a lot of water-based activities, so I was nervous about bringing my camera and big zoom lens to the park. Thankfully, the lockers were perfect and the animals there are incredible, so it was well worth it to me and I had myself a DAY. I had a big wildlife trip planned for this summer that fell through, so it was nice to be able to see some amazing creatures up close in a different way.

Also the male mountain lion in the last photo is Shan Yu and no one can tell me anything different 👀
